A tough qualifying session in Thailand. But Norbert Michelisz and the MOL Group Zengő Motorsport team made the best of it. With a lap of 1:38,642 minutes Norbert will line up tenth for race 1 but due to the reversed grid he will start from pole-position for race 2. This should enable the No. 5 Honda Civic WTCC driver to once again show his race craft.
“It was a positive qualifying session”, Norbert says. “Of course, P10 and the first row on the grid for race 2 look quite good. But once again I’m a bit disappointed. I had had higher hopes after yesterday’s practice sessions. However, we realized quite soon that we would not be fighting for Q3 positions. That’s a shame but we can be positive about the second race in which we can fight for a podium. This is the main target for today.”
In Q1 Norbert had secured P10, too, with a lap of 1:38,930 minutes on his second but last outing. His best lap in Q2 then came on his first attempt at a flying lap. But with all five Citroën cars dominating the qualifying session there was not much Norbert could do.
